Girls on the Run Volunteer Coaching - Spring 2025
Apply here: www.gotrnorthbay.org/coach
Girls on the Run helps over 1200 girls annually build social, emotional, and physical skills through the joy of movement. We offer Spring and Fall programs within the Napa, Solano, and Sonoma counties within our organization. In 2021, Girls on the Run was recognized by the Harvard School of Education as a program with strong focus on equitable and inclusive education. Girls on the Run North Bay provides extra support to our under-resourced communities with 80% receiving financial assistance and 70% coming from traditionally under-represented racial/ethnic groups.
Girls on the Run coaches are trained volunteers who lead a team of participants through a season of powerful and fun lessons. You do not need to be a runner or have prior experience coaching; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Coaches receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give.
Responsibilities:
- Have fun while serving as a role model for program participants.
- Review, prepare and supervise weekly lessons (curriculum provided by Girls on the Run).
- Collaborate with other coaches for successful lesson delivery.
- Commit for the entire season (practices and end-of-season 5K event).
- Facilitate communication with parents/guardians of program participants.
Our upcoming “Sisterhood Spring” program timeline:
- Dates: March 10 – May 11
- Target Group: 2 volunteer coaches to facilitate a group of 15 girls (3rd-5th graders)
- Frequency: 2x week for 75 minutes, after school roughly 2:45-4pm, for 8 weeks. The days can be determined by coaches.
- Location: On campus at one of our participating Elementary schools within the counties
- GOTR 5k: May 11, Mare Island
