Napa Valley’s MLK Celebration of Compassion & Action seeks to renew Dr. King’s vision of a Beloved Community: where there is inclusion, equity, justice, and compassion for all.
After a 3 year pandemic hiatus, the two-day event returns with abundant opportunities to serve our community, promote awareness, and connect with each other in meaningful ways.
Sunday, January 15: MLK Jr. Public Commemoration
Where: Congregation Beth Shalom synagogue at 4pm
Speakers include:
Karla Gomez-Pelayo, from the Legacy Youth Project
JT Thompson, Napa Valley Black History Month celebration founder and community mental health advocate
Lilea Heine, from the Rainbow Action Network
Monday, January 16: MLK Jr. Community Service Opportunities
When: Community Service Projects will take place from 9am - 3pm
Where: Pre-registered volunteers go straight to their site.
Home base NV Center for Spiritual Living courtyard at 1249 Coombs St.: 9 AM-12 PM, Family, Youth, and Community projects including rock painting, Love/Kindness Cards, Making reusable Grocery bags, planting seeds, sidewalk chalk for justice, and more. Pre-registration is not required.
