Organization Profile

What We Do:

Vilda is a small Fairfax-based non-profit offering nature programming to over 500 children per year throughout Marin County and Petaluma. At Vilda, our mission is to facilitate meaningful connection to the natural world. Our instructional staff are dedicated nature educators and experts in the fields of natural history, nature connection facilitation, group dynamics, and wilderness skills. We have a small administrative staff, some of whom are also instructors who keep our organization running smoothly.

Who We Are:

At Vilda, we strengthen our connections to the natural world through our youth summer camps, homeschool programs, after school and school break programs. We spend time outdoors with our hands in the dirt and feet on the ground. We plant trees, clear brush, look for frogs, eat wild plants, make a fire by friction or dye a shirt with berries. We learn real skills that allow us to remember that we truly are an important part of this landscape. The kids in our programs experience hands-on that they can make a positive difference in the world. Through our programs, children can expect to :come to know their local environment as an extended part of their homefeel a sense of belonging on the earth form lasting friendships and connect with other families
